Is it true that the intake resonator only acts as a noise dampener if ..?
This is for a CL9 (TSX). The air filter is upstream to the resonator.
Is it true in this configuration, the resonator only acts to dampen noise ?

Yes. The odd configuration of most factory intake tubes are solely for noise reduction.(although occasionally they may serve other purposes)
