Re: whistle
If you have an aftermarket air intake and filter that is the culprit. Mine was so loud I thought I had sucked a bird into it.
Just move the cone filter further up or further down the intake and that will make the noise or take the noise away. Mine would only whistle during acceleration, VERY annoying! I pushed the filter further up the intake pipe and bye bye birdie!

Re: whistle
It's the air filter. That's it. You know how the OEM intake has those chambers that don't do anything? They're resonator chambers and help to stop the whistling.
Before I pulled my old D15B7 out of my 4 door, I pulled the intake off and revved the hell out of it. It seems to whistle more without an air filter. Maybe it's the increased flow. Try getting a new filter or cleaning yours. Running without is a bad idea, but if you're willing to run without to make the noise, you kinda deserve the destruction.

Re: whistle
I have a concaved front end on the fitler that has a filtered front and mine still whistles.
But before that i did notice that with my S300 when i adjusted the idle to make it idle correctly at 850 RPM the idle adjustment screw was moved as well and it made the whistle more audible.

Re: whistle
i cant believe you want your car to sound like it has an issue...
i heard you could put oil on your belts to make them make noises too, u should totally do that. then your car will sound sick.
