Default 2002 Civic DX Possible Immobilizer Issue?

I'm somewhat new to Hondas and I'm still learning the ropes, but I've been having an issue with mine the last couple days.

I'll start off by explaining what happened.
The check engine light came on a day or two before and the belt was squeaking on start up and when changing gears. Shut off my car after driving for 20 minutes or so and when I went to start it again it wouldn't turn over : crank but no start. I got a boost and the car was running again. About 5 minutes up the road the car lost all engine power, the RPMs declined but all of the electronics were still being powered. The immobilizer light started flashing and I ended up having to get the car towed. Fast forward to the next day, the car would turn over and start but only when it was plugged into a battery charger. Without it plugged in, it won't start but all of the electronics are working fine... I live far away from any kind of dealership or garage, and don't really want to pay $100+ to get the car towed to one and get it diagnosed... Any ideas as to what the issue could be are greatly appreciated!

Have you had the alternator and battery checked?

The battery could definitely be changed but it still has power for everything else.. when I got it running before I tested the battery and it was at 13.8 and the alternator was working..

Have you checked the connections to the battery terminals to ensure that they're not corroded or loose?

I forgot to also mention that I had a code reader plugged in it before because the check engine light came on a day before, and kept coming up as error. I have and they're secure, I'm personally thinking it might be the main relay, but like I said I'm still learning the ropes, there's crank in the engine but no start, battery was reading 13.8...

Check the bolts to the alternator bracket to see if they are loose. Loose bolts here will create a poor ground situation. The alternator is grounded by these bolts.

Which belt was squeaking? What is the code for the CEL?

I believe it was the belt around the alternator, thing is it squeaking once I had the car running again when it was plugged in it wasn't squeaking anymore.. As for the CEL I'm not sure what the code was, when I had the reader plugged in it was just reading "Error." I'll double check the bolts around my alternator to make sure it's grounded properly

Getting an error response leads me to believe that the ECU may be fried.

That's what I was afraid of... Is their a typical price range for getting a new ECU rigged up? Or does it usually differ dramatically between shops?

Its going to depend on if you source an ECU yourself or not. If you find a used ECU that matches a 2001-2005 Civic DX or LX, you could do the work yourself to remove the factory one and installing the replacement.
