okay so 95 civic, d15b all stock except the 8lb flywheel

if anybody is in socal right now youll know that yesterday and today was raining ***** and so i HAD to drive over a puddle and my car is dumped and so i had to drive over it and after that my car was still on but my oil light and my battery light came on so i turned off the car. i started it again and it had a hard time, i just kept cranking and cranking but finally i got it to go and it was running shitty but i gunned it just to see if it would go and it ran fine and finally i get home. i start it again and it starts and im revving the engine to hear if anythign is wrong and it sounds perfectly fine, then i leave for about an hour and im about to get into my car and now it just cranks and cranks and it wont start, it doesnt turn over but the engine wont fire i have a feeling its the starter but i have no clue. i took off the intake box and there was some water in there not much but some drips, any help honda-tech? :[

EDIT** i dunno why i said it turns over but it doesnt turn over my bad!

how high was the water?
you might have hydro locked your engine since there was water in the intake box.
but if you did, i dont understand why it took a while?
maybe you had water in there and when you reved your car it sucked up more air and in the process sucked up some water that was in the air box

how bad is it to hydrolock an engine? i would say the water went to my centercap? but my car is pretty low..

i forgot to add i was try to start my car alot before, i did alot of googling of how to un-hydrlock a car but im not sure if im even hydrolocked cause it started and now it just wont start anymore, please any input would be greatly appreciated this is my DD!!

k was there any more water in the air box when you turned it on or water around you
k and its cranking you said........if it is cranking then its not your started also your better could be going weak

noo my battery isnt weak, i tried to jump it and it wouldnt even go still
when i tried to crank it and it wouldnt go i removed my air box and some water came out like little drips

water came out of where? the airbox itself? on which side of the filter? and if its turning over then its not the starter or the battery. What about your fuel pump? do you hear it humming for a few secs when u turn the key?

well if your engine did hydro lock, you most than likely need to rebuild it.(from what i have heard)
if the water was up to your center cap then i do not know what can be the problem.

and how bad is it to hydro lck an engine?
REAL REAL BAD!

im thinking maybe a ground got rusted. check all your grounds and take your started to autozone so they can test it. also check your fuses.

my car wont even start, i cant get the engine to turn on it just cranks and cranks and cranks

when i took off my air box water came out from the piping
and i dunno if i can hear my fuel pump cause my radiator fan turns on right away and its real noisy

well un plug your radiator fuse so you can try to hear the fuel pump.
check all these:
hear fuel pump for priming, it if primes then check for spark
EDIT: if it does spark then check all your spark plugs(maybe the one you pulled is bad. also check your spark plug wires)
if they all check out, move on to checking the distributor and ignition coil

remove your head off the block, and use a wet/dry vac to suck up as much water and possible

the car DOESNT turn over, i edited iono why i put that it does but it doesnt, it just cranks and the starter is trying to start it but nada

k your not being a 100% clear

does it crank or does it only click when you try to turn the key in the on position

unplug the radiator and check fuel pump that might be the problem

wires and plugs a wire might be burned and is not getting spark right

and make sure you have gas in the car might be the reason its not starting.......lol

I had this same problem a few years ago. You more then likely didnt hydro-lock it though. Mine ended up getting actual Salt Water from rain in it----yes i know not possible but it happened. Anyway it ended up coming to a rebuild because it had me stumped for 2 months. After that she started right up. Good luck finding your problem though. Hope it's not as bad as mine was.

ok. HE HEARS HIS FUEL PUMP PRIME AND HE HAS SPARK.
i know cuz we were PMing each other.
but i am almost positive that he hydro locked his car.

If it's a matter of water being in the cylinders... just remove the spark plugs and crank it over. Should blow anything in the cylinders out of the holes...

okay, the starting is trying to start the car but it wont start, ive been trying to start it yesterday and a few times today, i tested it for spark but no water shot out of the spark plug hole i took it out, ive googled and i read if you try to start the car and theres water in the cylinders youll bend a rod and im pretty sure i bent a rod as unseen racer stated i am getting spark and i am getting fuel, and to bossm my gas tank is half full

if you bent a rod you would hear it. If it wont start then you could have hydrolocked it. Take the head off and see. Hopefully you havent bent a rod yet, although like I said, you would probably hear it.

yea. i highly doubt he bent a rod just cuz he was cranking it. remove all spark plugs and have some one crank it. get a flash light and look in the holes FIRST(b4 you crank) to see if there are ANY signs of water

btw if you did bend a rod, I have some D16Y8 Pistons and rods and some ACL Duraglide bearings f/s. Ill give them to you cheap as hell cuz i wanna get rid of them, just PM Me (dont post it in here). Although I hope you didnt, rebuilding it cuz of something dumb like that would suck.

okay tomorrow im gonna try the spark plugs out of the cylinder thing after i get out of school, and my friends dad whos a mechanic is gonna take a look at it so yeah pray for me! :]

jimster is it stock rods and pistons?
and if your dads friends is a mechanic, he should of came the day it broke or today.

no water came out of the cylinders, i removed all spark plugs and no water came out, if there was water in there wouldnt it have been shot out? im so confused now
