sequential shift with stock gearbox?
Dreaming again, I had to resurrect my old account here.
Short and simple anyone ever hear of converting the H pattern of our JDM standard gear selector to a sequential pattern?
Now I don't mean sequential in the gear box - clutch will still be required for every applicable gear change, but the pricy replacement of the gearbox is ridiculous to me to entertain, but just on the center hump, I have had a couple of scary mis-shifts, one in particular overtaking mustang and rammed it into 2nd at nearly 80 having missed 4th, thought for sure I screwed something up so let her go on ahead and let the motor decelerate naturally, but I more often miss 3rd when I get in a hurry, letting the clutch before I've gotten the synchro fully seated under the selector fork. I'd hate for this trend to continue after I have a turbo and will likely be power shifting here and there.
I havn't really inspected the linkage area on my transmission housing, I believe one switches between center neutral and up/down for gear selection and the other cable connects to a telescoping mechanism - how would I make this shift like a motorcycle; 1 down, 4 up would be great, but Reverse needs to be accessible - maybe that could be a Left or Right motion of the selector stick from either 1st or anywhere along the shift tree for ease of J turns and other trick maneuvers.
I have a lot of custom modifications to do to this car so, the first of witch is to completely gut the interior - so I'll have intimate contact with the shift cup and controls anyway.

It has been done on the cable shifted trans but not on rod shifted. Just slow your shifting down. No reason you should be missing gears.
