EK9 b16b problems
Alright we just finished a b16b swap . Car is stock except some new gaskets and header and exhaust and a larger throttle body. Running a chipped p28 ecu. ive driven the car about 1200 miles this week . Ran really well. Got about 28 mpg @4400 rpm.
So yesterday I drove to the store and the car was perfect on the way Home I turned onto my road and lost all power it was bucking and bogging and felt like I ran it out of fuel. I was low so I figured that's what happened. So I put fuel in it. It started but is still bogging and missing. So I put a little more fuel in it. Now it will run but only at idle. Any time I touch the throttle it's bogging and missing horribly. It's not smoking or burning anything of any kind . It's hard trying as well. No CEL. I replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter and checked the plugs. Plugs had a good strap on them and weren't hurt. It's running better but still hard starting sometimes and not taking fuel well.
Someone chime in. It feels timing related . I just put a cap and rotor on it. And just inspected everything and it was all fine. I also unplugged every single sensor and nothing changed except getting an engine light and running worse unplugged. The one thing I have not checked on the o2 sensor.

I just counted the teeth and it was exactly where it's always been. It has no tension issues anywhere on the belt. And no belt degradation anywhere I can. The motor only has 70,000 km.
Try unplugging the o2 sensor. It'll probably run rich, but if it doesn't act up then you know it's the culprit. I've only had 1 o2 sensor go bad without throwing a CEL.
I'll try that next. I'm pretty good with cars and this has got me thrown. I've never in my life had an o2 sensor go bad. How would a distributor die? Meaning if it were on it's way out how would it die? I just have literally checked everything and it's just falling on it face. And still starts hard. It's not showing any signs of not being healthy something just isn't right. And it happened out of nowhere. Sorry for being long winded.
thanks
thanks
What's the likelihood that the coil is dying? Are they very prone to failure.
smells like fuel as well much more than it has. Maybe it's ignition. It's an oem dizzy. But the cap and rotor are def autozone. And I cannot speak for the coil.

I don't have a dizzy laying around. Thats the problem I would have already swapped it. I can get a coil an oem one. But I'm up in the air about buying a dizzy . I just hate throwing parts at stuff
I always thought the car felt a little sluggish. Even adding a little timing didn't change it . I attributed it to a weak fuel pump which was original. I for sure thought it was my issue. Maybe it needs a coil.
its runs right ? but just runs like **** ? I suppose you could pull the plug wires one by one to see if there are any changes. is there any oil getting into the distributor ?
Prior to yesterday it ran perfectly. As aforementioned it died in my neighborhood. After the fuel pump and new fuel it will start but it's hard to start. And it will idle all day long. But at lower rpm it just bogs at nearly any throttle input. It will break through it at higher Rpm but if you open the throttle to much it bogs. It's not making noise or smoking . But it's running very rich.
After some inspection I do have a small leak at th head side of the dizzy. Although it's very small. My buddy works at a Honda dealer I'm thinking of snagging an icm and coil at cost to see if it fixes it. He's over here now and saying it's the dizzy in some capacity .
It's got to be. I attributed the cars sluggishness to a fuel pump but as it is now I bet it was dizzy related of some sort. I'm going to check the classifieds as well. I don't know anyone locally with parts to swap. Looks like the igniter and the coil are expensive.
Okay so I retigtened all the intake manifold bolt which were a tiny bit loose. Wasn't my issue. It changed nothing. I'm awaiting response from a bud of mine of some coil pricing as of now from the dealer.
