how hard is it to change head gasket on D16Y8?
Im jumping in this thread cause im new to the site and not real savvy with the "forum" stuff. I recently replaced head gasket on my d16y8 due to oil leak from dizzy end of head/block. New bolts, Hgasket, cam seal, Tbelt, tensoner, water pump, tstat, intake/exhaust gaskets, front crank seal. Torqued Hbolts to 49ftlb in order per manuel. Still had same oil leak. Removed head AGAIN and had resurfaced then reinstalled with another new Hgasket and it still leaks! Any ideas?

Ummmm... maybe the head gasket isn't responsible for the oil leak ??? For the record, it is highly unlikely that a head gasket would leak oil and not have other issues... like smoking, overheating issues, etc. Also remember that since the engine leans forward slightly, any oil that leaks at the valve cover gasket or grommets, distributor o-ring, or VTEC assembly will travel down toward the block, gather at the head gasket edge, and run around to the front passenger side corner. This is commonly why people think the head gasket is leaking... when in fact, it is another problem.
Clean the area where you see oil well with brake cleaner and then drive it for a couple of days. Then inspect the area starting at the front right corner and move back and up until you find dry metal. The gasket above or next to this area will be the culprit.

Moved to your own thread. You didn't seem to need referencing that 11 year old thread.

Glad you realize you probably won't see a response from the OP that you quoted and responded to.
