Default obd2a Del Sol b16a2 into obd2b 99 Acura 1.6 EL chassis?

Hey guys , thanks for your time. I'm swapping a b16a2 out of a usdm 1996 delsol VTEC into a 99 Acura 1.6 el (obd2b) . I hauled out the d16y8 now trying to figure out the harness for the b16 . Can i use everything from the delsol will the obd2a harness on the b16 work with the el so I can run the p30 ? or do I have to use my d16y8 obd2b harness on the b16 and use a 99-00 si(r) obd2b b16a2 ecu. If I do this can i re wire the obd2a b16 dizzy to run obd2b ? Should that be a solution? Obd wiring gurus please chime in and give me some insight

Use your OBD-2B D16Y8 engine harness (lengthening/shortening and changing plugs as necessary) and source a '99-00 USDM Civic Si or CDM '99-00 Civic siR ECU. The distributor can be re-pinned if you have the skill set to do so... otherwise, get a distributor from the same applications as the ECU and you will be fine. The plug style is different and there is no tach output (blue wire) in the newer dizzy... the tach in the instrument cluster is given signal by the ECU and not directly from the distributor.

Don't forget the crank position sensor, needs to be repinned too.

Are the alternator plugs the same?

Intake air temp sensor is in the intake manifold of the B16A3 VS the intake arm of your car. You'll either need to rewire or put it into your intake arm.

The CKF sensor plug on the engine is a 1x2 grey plug... the plug on the OBD-2B chassis harness is a 1x3 grey plug with only two wires in it (the middle hole being open). This conversion is performed by simply un-pinning the 1x3 plug and the OBD-2A 1x2 plug and moving the 1x2 grey plug to the OBD-2B engine harness. A '99-00 Civic Si ECU will be looking for an IAT sensor in the intake tube... meaning that the programming has limited intrusion since intake temps will likely remain within 30 degrees F of ambient... whereas, the IAT being installed in the intake manifold like the Del Sol has will have a much greater swing. My suggestion is to leave the IAT sensor in the inlet tube and leave the original sensor on the engine either unplugged or install a delete plate and seal off the hole that the sensor was occupying. If you intend to use the Del Sol ECU with an adapter harness, then I recommend that you use the IAT sensor in the intake manifold because the programming is looking for greater latitude in the signal range.

im still quite the noob with wiring , I've performed plug and play swaps before but have never got into wiring pinning / de pinning , sorry for the noob questions, but what is the CKF sensor? I know the car has a sensor mounted in the aftermarket intake tube , I'm going to be using a p2t 99-00 b16a2 ecu so will that eliminate that problem? Can I just splice the wires for the distributor crank sensor etc . that way for now instead of pinning the plugs ?i don't really care what it looks like just as long as it runs for now, it's an automatic d16y8 harness too if that makes a difference planning on getting a rywire harness and tuck next year when I go b20vtec . Thanks for the support guys , also if anyone has pics of labeled obd2a and obd2b harness difference that would be great !

Hondapartshero , your diagrams have helped a lot searching other h-t posts on Google . Update; switched over to 2 wire iacv ckf de pinned and pinned ecu plugs and distributor , first time doing it so it felt pretty good and double checked everything matches up so far I got half the harness on today before I had to leave work . noticing a few of the plugs (iacv style) , are the same but in different spots . Being an automatic vtec harness I'm wondering which wires will have to be extended to fit the b16 also , the harness feels kinda tight on the motor and is still confusing a bit with all the extra plugs I'm not sure of , but I'm getting there . I appriecate the input and help as I just want to learn this obd2 wiring once and for all cause I know I'll be doing this **** all my life lol. Thanks
