Default d16z6/y8 ignition base map

Here's what I have
D16Z6 block
Y8 head
B7 dizzy
Z6 crank pulley

I am trying to set the ignition timing and my marks are not even close on the crank pulley. I was thinking it was maybe because the timing on the P28 ecu is 16 degree and the timing on a P2P ecu is 12 degree.

If this is the case could I fix this with a chip from phearable? And if so what would I need to tell them.

Thanks in advance

What cam and cam gear are you using? A z6 setup will probably resolve your problem, alternatively you could enlarge your distributor slots.

I had a y8 cam gear on it. Some one suggested using a Z6 cam gear. Which I have an adjustable one. I'm not sure how to adjust the Z6 cam gear for this setup though.

I didn't think about the timing marks being different on the Z6 crank pulley versus the Y8 one.

I'm going to try switching to the y8 pulley.

Remove your adj. and overlay it w/Z6 sync them for a baseline.

So basically use a stock Z6 cam gear? Won't that then throw off my mechanical timing?

you need an adjustable cam gear, it's 4.5* off from the Z6 block.
set your crank to TDC
align the cam to TDC
lock your base timing to 12*
adjust dizzy timing.

If it's more than 10* out, your cam is off a tooth.
I have the same setup.
Make sure to adjust valve lash after you're done
