Default Valve cover and oil pan AN weld fittings

Hello all,

Not much of a welder myself, though I have tinkered with friends TIG and MIG machines a bit. That being said, I am ordering some AN fittings for a turbo build. I would like your take on what metals, methods, and tips would be best for success. The engine is a D16Z6- stock aluminum valve cover.. I believe the oil pan is aluminum as well. I will be welding two fittings onto the valve cover and one return line fitting into the pan. Open to suggestions on where to get quality fittings as well if anyone has recommendations. I'm thinking about ordering premade, proper length hoses already compression crimped to avoid the hassles of fraying and poor sealing ends. Let's hear it. Thanks.

Whatever fittings you get, make sure they aren't anodized or coated.

I've mostly been looking at aluminum, steel, and stainless steel weld on fittings. Safe guess to use aluminum for both the valve cover and pan? Keeping the metal types the same?

Yes. You cannot weld SS or Steel to Aluminum.

Unless you want to JB Weld.

Ive seen tons of different aluminum weld fitting brands and the ones that seem to weld the best are Vibrants.

I sell AN fittings all aluminum NOT anodized. I don't have steel ones but hit me up if you need some aluminum ones.
If you buy in bulk(10 or more) I'll sell 6/8/10an for $2.75each plus shipping

I used 4043 aluminum ones for the valve cover and plain on carbon steel ones for my oil pan. Got them from ebay for about $3.00 ea from china

If your oil pan is off a z6, its steel not aluminum.

You'll need a pan off of a d16y8 or d16y5 if you want an aluminum one OP
