Default B-series question

So I've been out of the game awhile. Used to have a quick class Ef hatch with an ls-v on the unit. Thinking of doing a budget build car and wanted to pick people's brains on whether I could still use an ls-v on boost, go a reliable 6-700hp motor? What are the pros and cons to new motors since the early 2000's? Has anyone tried an R motor on boost? Just trying to get a feel for how the street game is these days and don't want to spend 15 grand on a B motor, if I'm going to have to rebuild it every 10-15 passes...

CSS block, eagle rods, cp pistons. Good tune. Probably as budget as you're going to get for the power you're looking for. CSS however only guarantees the block up to 500hp. So if you want better reliability, you'll need to sleeve.

If you spend 15k and build it right you won't have to rebuild it every 10-15 passes. Hell, you should be able to go YEARS if you keep your tunes spot on.

Rant: why is it "the honda game"? Annoys me when i hear that, it's a car Scene/Community.

I don't plan on using a stock bottom. Will most likely get sleeved at golden eagle. Never had any issues with their work in the past. My real question was, is an ls-v still a viable and reliable set-up or are there other platforms that have proven to be a better option now.

Side note: I never said "Honda" game. I've been out of the whole scene for awhile. I referred to it as "the game" and "the street game". I'm just here to get some advice and talk shop.

LS/vtec is still a ligit reliable option.
I am on a 662hp B20/vtec pretty much the same thing as LS/Vtec, I am stationed in Germany and it has seen some long high speed autobahn racing and long distance driving, and the occasional drag weekend. The only issues I've had is with transmissions. currently redoing everything for 800+ HP in a EM1 coupe with a Gforce dog box.

Nice rudebwoy! Without giving anything away that your not comfortable with, what kind of setup are you running? Internals, manifold, fuel delivery and such?

GE sleeved/ Arias pistons/Pauter rods
ferrea comp plus valves/skunk2 pro 1 cams
fullrace topmount/Garrett GTW67
Dual aeromotive intank/ID2000/ Hondata s300 v3

there are other factors but thats just a quick rundown.
the 662hp was made on a BW S366, and Crower cams. new setup will be more efficient.
