Default engine vibrates violently

Hey guys, just picked up my 1990 crx si, first honda i have actually owned

anyways its all stock except for the headers, and stage 2 clutch (atleast i was told its a stage 2) anyways im still getting use to the cable clutch, on these cars, all 3 of my cars before were hydraulic clutches, never owned an automatic.

anyways back to the topic...

when i go from a stop (at slow speed) and let off the clutch the engine vibrates very fast forward and back, i had my friend slowly let the clutch off with no gas while i watched the engine move and it wiggles a lot! it only moves a total of 1 inch both ways at most, but it does that almost every time i go from a stop, and every time i shift gears if i dont have the revs ready for the next gear.
tires: 13-70-175 if that makes a difference)

could it just be the motor mounts and transmission mounts are not able to hold up to the aggressive stage 2 clutch?

or could the guy who put it in have possibly warped the friction disk? ive watched youtube vids with people with stage 2 all the way up to stage 4's and theirs sounded nothing like mine, theirs were a lot more smooth then mine.

or possibly a cheap clutch?

factory clutch is gonna be the first step.
then fix your motor mounts with window-weld by 3m.

honda gearboxes and clutches are smooth by design, they are not to be beat buy junk crap stuff. put them stock or nothing at all and park it.

where should i go about buying a facotry clutch? should i only change the friction plate? can i keep the pressure plate as stage 2 or change that out too? what about exedy clutches? stage 1?

youve got subframe or engine bolts loose.

or broken engine mount.

alright, that's the first order of business. should i take each one out individually one at a time to look at them closer then put them back in? or just go around tightening them?

I had this same problem in my 94 Civic, the engine rocking was unbelievable. It would make the whole car kind of bob back and forth with it. It was torn engine mounts, it's amazing what a difference replacing them made.

Take a look at the rubber on each engine mount, if they're torn or severely cracked they should be replaced. Filling them in with window weld will result in vibrations inside the car but is a cheap fix.

any ideas on what that plastic connector does thats plugged into the transmission? it has 2 wires going out of it, the guy before ripped one off and used some alligator connectors ghetto style. if its suppose to be a signal on what the clutch is doing that's being sent to the computer? maybe its getting an improper reading?

about to spend all day digging through these motor mounts, its getting really annoying to drive it now with it like that.

no, more like the back up/reverse switch.

speedo would be a thick cable.

and either are definitely not your problem. it doesnt work that way. it was built almost 30 years ago.

I believe its actually the coolant temp sensor, which by the way the check engine light just came on and i got a code 6.

also back to the motor mounts, im gonna do that windshield weld on the junk yard ones i bought, and swap those in so i can know forsure its the mounts or now. i am leaning towards loose sub frame though

There is no coolant in the transmission. The only 2 wires on a stock crx transmission are for the reverse lights.

And if your clutch is a pucked clutch it could be clutch chatter mixed with b worn out mounts.

yea i know, i forgot to mention after a 2nd look its right under the distributor, above the transmission.

so i went out and dug into the motor mounts and so far all of them look to be in really good shape, although on the rear one the 3rd bolt farthest from the mount i believe it stripped out, it will tighten a little bit then get loose, then tighten, then get loose again...

i dont know what to do anymore...spent $40 on used mounts and i can't return them for cash back.
