I saw an EF with the battery relocated down in front of the radiator...right in front of the trans, i was wondering if theres any special stuff to do when doing this..thanks

more than likely it was an Odyssey battery. probably a 680 with the bracket that is sold for it. that's my next mod!

Why on earth would you want to hang the battery even further forward? These cars have such poor weight distribution to start with, you surely dont want to make the situation worse?!

last i checked we were all having trouble keeping traction in the front... sounds like a good way to keep a little weight up front

of coarse if ur racing autox then its probably not the best choice 4 u

Sometimes moving the battery is not because of weight distribution but fitment issues...I replaced my battery with the above mentioned (odyssey) and made a custom bracket by myself to make room for a much larger cold air intake tube.

i did it, and trust me it takes weight off the front. the battery i used only weighs 11 lbs. NRG-CELL ftw

I had my blonde head on when I wrote that!! I forgot that a lot of you drag, I was thinking more in terms of track driving like Im more fond of.

I cant get enough weight off the front for my liking!!!

I've seen two different versions of mounting the battery in the front fender well.

One was done by redzcstandardhatch. (I've been bugging him to do a write-up)

It's a pretty simple welded "bucket" and strap. Both used a "standard" type battery.

I like the idea, however would want to have it so that you can remove the battery without pulling the bumper (by removing the inner fender splash panel and sliding the battery rearward).

An added bonus would be to use an SCCA battery disconnect switch with handle in the engine compartment. It would help with keeping the car stolen.

I personally can't put the battery in the trunk due to other items already being there.

i really wanna mount mine like autoworks has, or mount that same batt in the little cargo box, but then again, need to rewire... still deciding, love both though!

Wow, you are incorrect about everything KillSwitch.

1. Stock size battery is 25-30 Lbs. Odyssey 680 is about 13 Lbs.
2. Relocating the battery to the rear does affect weight distribution.
In this case, you are removing ~30 Lbs. of weight from the front of the car AND adding ~13 Lbs. of weight to the rear at the same time. This results in some change in weight distribution.

One thing to think about when relocating your battery to the rear is: all the extra weight of the accessories.

Odyssey 680................................13 Lbs
17 Ft. of 4 gage Power cable...........5 Lbs
Mount/Box/Terminals.....................2 Lbs
<U>Breaker/Distribution Block..............2 Lbs</U>

All this adds up to ~22 Lbs!!!!!

IMO i think mounting the odyssey 680 in the stock location is easiest and best idea unless you really need weight in the back or your sick turbo setup needs all the space you can get.

Can you get away with this under track rules?



I'm presuming the Odyssesy is sealed, but they can complain about not having a sealed box as is, can they not?

Just curiousity, the radio idea looks to be one of the best to me personally, although it would eliminate some space for an amp back there too. And jumping could be a pain in the ***, "Park at my passenger door, no I know what I'm saying, just park at the passenger door."

Did you build the metal tray surrounding the battery? Or is that the odyssey battery tray? I've been waiting to do this for a while, but everyone I seen is welded into place down by the fender or ect..... I like your setup though a lot better.
