Default JDM D15b overheating?

Weird situation, am I overheating or do I just have air pockets in my cooling system? Recently flushed the whole system, changed tstat and cleaned out the rad.

NOTE: When it starts getting "hot", I just hit a higher rpm to "cool" it off. Which I find really strange.

Does your fan work? If it does not check to see what could be the problem or bad water pump.
