The y8 fuel rail has a sensor on it where the z6 doesn't and the z6 has one on the back that the y8 doesn't

The fuel rail plug is an obd2 emissions plug, why would you need to worry about that with an obd1 motor? The plug in the back of the intake manifold? I don't know a plug in the back of the manifold but if you're talking about the iacv than thats not an issue either.

In fact I'm not even sure what ecu you are going to use to run the z6.

I'm making the motor obd2 everything that came with the 2000 is staying except the motor and no it's not the iacv but I'm using the y8 intake and we will see how it goes but thanks anyways

I got a 2000 civic ex with a d16z6 motor in it and it has a hunting idle and as soon as I give it some gas it dies. As far as I know the guy who did the swap left the ECU and harness in the vehicle and just swapped the motor. I can't not find any leaks and thinking it's some kind of communication issue. Any ideas?

Post a pic of the label on the ECU.

Also clean the IACV and FITV, and list the CEL codes stored in the ECU.

I replaced the iacv with a new one there was a p0505 code initially.

You misunderstood the CEL, it seems they're missing their logic ground connections.

The problem may be swapped sensor connectors.

I'm surprised by the absence of knock sensor and CKF codes given that the OBD2 P2P ECU is running an OBD1 D16Z6 engine.

I'm sorry for the wrong info given. The iat code is there because I ran the vehicle with it unplugged. The only code I have is the map sensor code. It is reading at a little over 50hg.
i dont see any other connectors that are the same for me to have swapped but I'll double check.

The engine will also run poorly if the CKF by the crank gear is not connected.

Look for swapped sensor connectors by matching connector wire colors to sensors. If you don't have this information, post pictures of sensor connector wires for each sensor (IAT, IACV, MAP, TPS, ECT, PS pressure switch).

Should I have got a dtc if there was no ckf like there was a code with the knock sensor ?
Ok sooo here is an update. I replaced the map because the reading was 52hg and just stayed there and never moved. When I replaced it the map code went away it was idling at about 1100 steady then I got a new code. P1509 . I have checked continuity between all wires to the iac. I didn't find any faults in the electrical. Can it be communication errors. I found this

The D16Z6 uses a 2-wire IACV. The D16Y7 uses a 3-wire IACV. Which IACV is installed?

On the harness is a 3 wire connector and the iac installed is a 3 wire connector. I wonder if they just swapped throttle bodies from a y7 motor so it would bolt and connect right up. If that is the case... Would that cause any issues?

Your 2000 Civic EX must have an automatic transmission. This setup also uses a 3-wire IACV.

And based on code P1509, you're running a 96-98 Civic OBD2A P2P ECU in a 2000 OBD2B Civic. Are you using an OBD2A to OBD2B conversion harness?

OBD2A and OBD2B Civics have different ECU connector pin outs.
