OK I slapped the turbo stuff on my car about 3-4 weeks ago. only running 6psi FOR NOW with a straight Garrett T3 (.48 a/r turbine, 60trim 60a/r compressor) on the d16y8. The spool up is like 3500-4k for 6-6.5psi. I'm somewhat dissatisfied with it though. I'm running a 2.5" downpipe to stock cat to 2.5" catback so I'm assuming the spoolup could be made better by getting a test pipe or highflow cat. The turbo I have is a used turbo, it's fine as it is now but I'm probably going to rebuild, upgrade (t3/t04b maybe), or get a new turbo setup (considering a mitsu 16G). I'm probably not gonna go all out on the sohc, probably only rods, pistons, blockgaurd, standalone and probably max street boost of say 12-14psi, possibly a little higher for track use. My question is. For the goal i just listed
12-14psi max on the street, prob 14-15 on race gas w/ standalone, what turbo would be a good choice for a d16y8 w/ 9:1 pistons and rods and blockgaurd?
I can't read compressor maps for **** really so that doesn't help.
thanks

You want a T3 or a T3/T4 unit.
If a T3 look into a Super 60 trim, and if a T4/T3 look at a 50 trim on compressor w/ .48 a/r on exh.

Well you can up to 10psi with stock internals your gonna spend all that money for another 40hp you might as well be working your motor N/A style. Get good tuning and run 8psi evereyday 10-12 psi at the track stock block

I'd invest in tuning the one you have before opting for new one...if you havnt done so already.

yeah, that trim and a/r does seem a little big for that motor. i'd say prally like a T3/04b with a stage II wheel..and a .48a/r..it would suit u better..anyone agree?
