A B17a1 Build
So recently a buddy of Mine told me that he had a b17 block sitting in his shed that had not been touched for a while. The car it had come out of was in a chase with Mass State Police and it was pitted and crashed by a cruiser.
He showed me the engine after lifting a trash bag off of it and for sitting a long time It was in not so bad of condition.
I loaded it onto the back of my truck and took it back to my garage.
After taking it all apart and checking the cylinder bore from top to bottom, checking piston to ring, ring to cylinder wall, connecting rod bearing clearance, crankshaft end play, etc. Everything checked out and the cylinder walls were in very good condition still showing a cross hatch on the walls. The crankshaft Journals were polished like a mirror and all of the bearings were scratch free!! Must of been a low miles rebuilt
It was a UGLY paint job of black chipping and think pealing everywhere so I used some Air craft stripper to strip it down to bare aluminum and some elbow grease to clean it up and painted the block.

Was wondering if anyone had any advice that has build a b17 before and wondering what head is a good for this build? Was thinking of running a B16 tranny.
Whatever the build comes out to be it will be tuned on an S300.
Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

When does this Happen? At first start up? Driving down the Street? Eating a Burrito??
Also what Color is the Smoke you see Coming from the Intake?
And what Part of the intake? The Manifold? The Filter?
The Rev issue sounds like it could be related to the IACV ( Idle Air Control Valve ) getting clogged up or blocked. It is a pretty common problem on Hondas but going to 6k is pretty high.
But without you being more specific.... No one can really help you
white or gray smoke poors out of air intake manifold. after it tries to run for mabey 1 min. cam timing is off 1 n a half teeth. computer might not be right it says its p 9 i think. blinks a bunch of different codes like 3 5 then 7? cant press the gas or stalls right out. please help. its nice crx . d16a8.thanks joe
