Default Looking ideas for an intake pipe for my turbo

I have a Ramhorn manifold and my compressor is on the driver side of my Integra. I would like to place the filter behind my driver headlight or somewhere in that area. I don't want to point the filter down because of water from rain and almost losing my DA many moons ago from that setup. I was thinking something like an "S" style of pipe I can place my filter on top. Btw it has to be a 3in pipe

How is your charge piping routed? if you're not using the hole behind the drivers side headlight then you could make a small airbox, wrap it in gold foil to prevent heatsoak from radiation sources and use that hole to feed the filter cold, clean air from behind the bumper.

I plan to do something similar with my build if I don't have enough room to turn the area behind the grille into an airbox.

your talking about where the wiper fluid bottle is located? yeah my bottle is still there even though my wiper shooters dont work for some odd reason. also my intercooler pipe is coming from the left hand lower torque mount area, so i can not redirect a pipe in that area. the only direction i have is up and over.

Does that intake setup drop hp because of restriction on the intake tube or is the decrease not noticeable? I like that idea tho

Having the intake pipe approach, according to my trusted source, said it increases spool with the turbo. It makes sense if you really think about. I think the intake pipe acts like a chamber of air that is going in one direction.

There might be 1psi of restriction at high rpm... it has little to no resistance since you're talking about less than 2ft of piping... the air filter is what causes the restriction, even high quality filters.

but even the shittiest filter has more surface area and flows more air than a screen over the compressor inlet

Thats how I want to route my intake pipe when I go boost. I plan on also makong a sheet metal splash guard since I dont have fender liners. Should also help deter water injestion

If it did, it wasn't noticeable. My restriction is the turbo itself.
Its a small Frankenstein 60 trim. Im at 300 hp at 11psi

Yep, cut so I can fit a 6" long cone filter above the fender inlet. Some 2.5 I had leftover. with a 90* coupling coming off the turbo.
I will take some more pics tonight.

The front have of my liners are cut and I live in Florida where it rains every day it seems. If I have enough water getting through that inlet to soak my filter and hydrolock, its likely because my car is under water. I dont see enough water getting to that filter even without fender liners.

You really think screens hurt performance that bad? Ive always ran one, and my local guru (Tony The Tiger @ Dynamotorsports) runs screens even on his 500-1000+ whp personal setups, and alot of cars that leave the shop

I thought it was a good thing

Water already is an issue. I have no fender liners and during monsoon season my engine gobbles up water through the filter when I drive on the freeway. Arizona sucks when it rains. Part throttle is fine but once it starts pulling a lot of air it starts to eat water and you can hear it stumbling as the water starts making it misfire.

Right now the filter is in the space the resonator box used to go in the passenger fender well.

The tires spraying gallons of water on the filter doesnt help it at all down there, thats why a splash guard is needed

Edit
Ah yeah. See your doesnt actually go into the fender well. Mine is actually in the fender well. Big *** filter down there lol.

I can see why yours is fine

My car has no fender liners, is half an inch off the ground, and has never had an issue with water.

If you leave the filter inside the engine bay you shouldn't have any issues with ingesting water. when you start putting the filter in the wheel well then you start to have issues.
