mesh = less surface area for turbo to suck air into which decreases power.

I was at jotech when tony was dynoing a car and they had a mesh screen on it and he took it off and gained 12 hp

get a filter and pipe.

if your goal is to filter the air, then get a pipe and filter. IfF your goal is maximum power, then run nothing, its that simple.

Using mesh now, but temporary only. I'm re-working the intake pipe/filter now and steering clear or debris and water
I would not be very trusting of nylon mesh myself, I'm using brass window screen mesh.

I had a filter, but the flange **** on me, so Im running a custom mesh setup
Nah I just used mesh on outside, piece of K&N filter(I hacked up old filter) in the middle and then k&n mesh on the other side just to make sure it doesn't get sucked into the turbo inlet.

This is only temporary though..

Just get a pipe and a filter...jeez guys, you spend all this money on a motor and a turbo setup and you won't spend the 40 or 50 bucks to filter it correctly??

hmmmmm, very clever of you yellowturbo.. that just might work, i was thinking about using a k&n filter as well, but, i was gonna rig some kind of hoooooooze up from the filter the the inlet, like a rubber home depot hose er use some pvc piping and just slap the k&n on the end of that. but if the filter just fits over the inlet why the hell waist money on the extention?

for budget panty hose would be the best. If you wanna get a little more fancy you could go to any sports store, buy some under armour (or use some of your own) and use that. IT has excelent breathing ability. Athletes use it to keep cool in hot temperatures, and warm in cold temperatures. its some crazy shat.

i use 1 later of screeen , then a layer of pantyhose, then sandwich it with another screen and clamp it, works like a charm

The under armor is a good idea. but that shiet is expensive! might as well buy a filter, i have under armor socks.. but i think thats to thick.. and when you guys rig these pantys around your inlet do you just use a rubber band, or you put the coupling on and wrap it around the coupling.

When I got my turbo kit (used) it came with a screen over the filter. I don't have that much room for a filter, so I just left the screen on there. On The screen that I have, the holes are pretty close together and I don't think that much dirt can get in there.

i didnt want to do the panties them selves becuase what if your turbo sucks in soo much air, the panties stretch? dangerous to me .
i cut up a screen door at my moms. i dont think she noticed yet, lol. and i stole a pair of my girls panyhose. unfortunately she got pissed when she driove the R one day and found crotchless pantyhose in my ashtray. i had some explaning to do .

I ran 3 layers of screen from a screen door/ window screen material. I came to find that it actually wouldn't allow my car to boost more than 3psi-- it blocked too much air. Put an intake pipe and a filter on-- car ran great.
