I have a vibration problem with my d16y8 ever since i rebuilt it and cant find out what it is. Had to get a reman head cause mine was junk and not worth fixing. Any ideas? Could it be the timing? it only happens at idle as soon as u get past 1500 rpm it goes away

 

Any CELs? I would check the sensors and vacuum lines, see if everything is connected where it should be.

 

nope none and it smoothes out after your in the gas. replaced most all sensors when i rebuilt it and checked all vacuum lines already

What year Civic did the head come from? Did you also replace the IM?

 

I have no idea what year it came off of. It was a reman head. Whats a IM? and yes it is a 98

No I did not replace the IM. I didn't think you had to though....and the head code is p2j-1

 

Describe what you mean by rough idle.

no CELs. the steering wheel shakes a lot and the shifter also. Sounds like there is a noise coming from inside the head but im not sure. i guess i shouldnt say rough idle really...more of a vibration. When i put a load to the drivetrain like the a/c the vibration gets worse too

 

Sounds like bad motor and torque mounts.

 

everything in the motor is brand new... what do u mean torque mounts? i put brand new motor mounts too

And brand new does not mean installed correctly.

no the idle stays about the same. how do i attach a video....im a noob

 

The idle speed should rise from about 670 rpm to 810 rpm when your turn on the A/C.

Sounds like you have low idle problem. Have you tried cleaning the IACV and adjusting the idle speed (see diagram in FAQs sticky)?

 

Your engine may be new but what about your engine mounts. You have a total of 5 mounts, have you replaced them at all?
