Default 99 Si Engine Problems

Well here is the dilemma, so I built my 99 Si motor (99 b16a) ground up with new bearings, seals, studs, and well everything but new rings and for some reason it is only running on 1 and 4 with strong responds but 2 and 3 still spark but when you pull the plugs it doesn't really affect the way it is running. I don't understand what is going wrong, I have double checked everything I have done and just about everything is brand new. If anyone has any ideas on what is going wrong with my pile'o poop let me know, this thing has really disappointed me with all the problems that have occurred. If you live anywhere close to me (Winona MN) pm me if you want to take a look at it, if you have ideas on what it is or think that you know, thank you all for reading this and have a wonderful day

Compression test. Are you getting fuel on those two cylinders? What color is your spark?

ok I will definitely do a compression test my dad also suggested that I do that, and yes it will backfire and shoot flames out of my short exhaust and idk what my spark color is. what color should it be?

well you said you didn't do the rings(why not?) so what was your last comp test results ? a healthy engine should push 200+ psi all cyl's for it to start "missing" they would probably have to be under 100 then you've got issues. but do the test first and post the numbers.

Your spark should be bright white. With old rings, your compression should be no lower than 160, and all four cylinders should be within 2% of each other.

Ok so here is the numbers,
Cylinder 1: 200 psi
Cylinder 2: 195 psi
Cylinder 3: 180 psi
Cylinder 4: 200 psi

For some odd reason there was oil that seeped past the grommets and was down in the cylinder, there was oil all the way down the treads on spark plug number 4 and all the way to the top of the porcelain. Spark plug number three just had a small pool of oil where the spark plug rest, and it's porcelain was covered in oil. Spark number two had just a smig of oil on it and number one didn't have any. My dad suggested that I change my wires, and the valve cover gasket as well. Now I trust him and what he says because he was a mechanic for 25 years, but he doesn't really know about the imports, which is why I ask the world of import wisdom. Thank you guys again, and I really appreciate the help and suggestions

He also said that they should be within 10 percent of each other, so I feel that they are good and it has run fine before with nothing changed except the bearings so I don't think that it would make a difference in compression, if anything is should have made it better, which it did. It was at,
Cylinder 1: 175 psi
Cylinder 2: 165 psi
Cylinder 3: 160 psi
Cylinder 4: 165 psi

so idk why that made a difference in the compression but it did unless it was the way I tested it. because this time I did it the way they teach you at a school "the right way" so idk thanks for the help

Check the following:
Mechanical timing
Ignition timing
spark color
Spark plug gapping
Make sure your injectors are spraying (stethoscope and listen for a distinct clicking noise)

Three principle things are required for your engine / cyls to work; Spark, fuel and air.

The mechanical timing is OEM Spec, as if it came directly from the factory could not have got it any closer, the ignition timing is dead on as well I didn't get to check the spark color on it because I didn't have someone to turn the car over for me. The injectors are brand new and they are spraying because the engine runs just like crap, also I just don't know if the spark wires are bad or not, because the oil that soaked down into the cylinders, it was burning oil so Ik that the oil was seeping past the spark plug number 4 and entering the cylinder, also I was wondering what the gap of the plugs should be?

check the cap and rotor ! forgot to mention that to me it sounds ignition related. don't worry about the things you listed just now, they wouldn't cause it to misfire.

Don't be so sure, you're not firing on 2 cyls from what you outlined, it's worth the check

Having oil soak the plug wires, shouldn't... ruin all spark, I'd spray it with some brake cleaner or compressed air to get it cleaned out and give it a shot.

Otherwise, I've also serviced a car recently that the plugs were so fouled they didn't generate shiiiiiitttt for spark, are they new?
