Ok so my del sol won't crank every time I turn the key I hear a click (and I checked the stopper on clutch pedal still in tact)once I do that lights don't wanna turn on and every time I try to turn them on dome light turns on....then I pushed to start and it turns on but as soon as I turn it off same thing and while it's on the alternator only charges it to 12.8 v and the previous time I had a short and I fixed it but I don't know what happend this time help please (new distributor,starter,and main relay)

 

Sounds like the alternator is toast. Can't say more without additional information, such as year of your car.

Also have the battery tested.

 

I agree with Ron, I would start with the battery as my first step. When the car is started is the battery light on? That should help indicate if there is proper charge taking place on not.
Your alternator may be intermittently going out. Typically a car wont drive too far without the battery receiving a charge, it will drain extremely quick.
I would get it in and have a full battery/starter/charging system test done. I don't know where you are located but many shops will do this for free.

 

The car is a 94 Honda del Sol si d16z6 and you guys thing the alternator would cause it not to crank?

 

Bad alternator --> dead battery --> no crank

So I tested my battery and alternator both passed so Im really confused maybe the starter relay?

 

Put 12 volts on the start terminal of the solenoid and see if it turns over.

 

check the battery cables and connectors. On my del sol I have to use a battery terminal end cap to make the terminal thicker to fit tight in the cable connector.

 

Hey Man at least it's not a broken cam shaft, that happened to me on my old '89 si hatch. I couldn't figure out why the damn thing would crank (just didn't sound right) but not start. I replaced the dizzy cause when cranking on it the rotor didn't budge so I figured that was the issue but still wouldn't start. So I pulled the valve cover cranked it over and noticed the cam was broken 2 lobes from the cam gear.
No that you happen to give a ****, just figured I'd share.
Definately check all of your fuses and relays if you're battery & alt tested good.

 

So I double checked all the fuses and relays also tested my starter 3 times all passed and still no start every time I try to turn on car one click and I try to turn it on another time no fuel no head lights or radio probably gonna end up taking it to a electrician so any suggestions arewelcome

 

check the electrical portion of ign switch. Solved my starting issues. Would randomly not start. I had to hot wire at starter to get going

 

How can I check the ign switch and how can I know if my ecu is bad
