MSD SCI and Hard To Start
So I installed my new ignition system today. External Blaster 2, MSD SCI, MSD Cap. Well It is a beautiful install looks great everything wired perfect. My only problem is it is really hard to start no matter what. It will start but I have to hold the key and crank it for a couple more seconds than usual to get the baby goin. The Blue and Red Wires are cut like the manual says, so I know thats not the problems... Again everything is wired great and this only started happening after the ignition install. What could it be... Everything is new like the rotor and plug and wires and all. Could it be the timing? If so Which way should i move the dizzy? The car runs great once started. Very smooth and all, just starting it is a pain in the butt! I know on msd's site it says it should even make the car fire faster... but in my case its slower! lol PLEASE HELP!

start the car like your starting a diesel truck, turn the key to the on position and wait 3 seconds like youd wait for the glowplug to kiick on and then crank it over. no your problem should be solved

Re: MSD SCI and Hard To Start
Just wondering I just installed a MSD SCI 6300 in my 93 integra gsr. It takes for ever to start but runs great once it starts. I can turn the key to on for any period of time then try to crank it and it takes like 30 seconds to start. Is it possible I didn't ground it well enough?

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why everyone who knows about Hondas knows that MSD is garbage for Hondas.
The factory ignition system is good for 500BHP. Keep it stock. You probably aren't getting sharp enough spark.

Re: MSD SCI and Hard To Start
I have ran MSD SCI's on almost every Honda I've owned and absolutely loved it! It ran stronger got better millage and started faster. this is the first problem ive had in ten years. I got this msd used from a friend as a gift. It runs 100% better then without it, it is just hard to start and I found the problem. I hooked the key on power to the fuse panel, while cranking the fuse panel cuts power for the starter as soon as you let go it catches. So I moved it to the key on power wire from inside the dizzy and it starts almost instantly!

This is a civic forum and you bumped a 7 year old thread. Start a new thread in the appropriate forum. mSD ignition on Hondas is a waste of time and money though.

Well, what the hell I'll also bump this old *** thread. I happen to like the msd sci, its good quality and good price for what you get. I got mine brand new for like $110 and free shipping.
What's not to like? Except when maybe people hook them up wrong.
