You let me down synchrotech...
So i rebuilt my dohc zc L-3 tranny and used the fifth gear out of my hf trans( for lower highway r's... No more 4200 rpm at 80mph) and the kit i got was a full seal, synchro and bearing kit. For one it does not come with diff bearings and two the fifth gear synchro spring clip/ring was very weak
( but i put the new one in and sure enough fifth grinds if i dont shift REALLY SLOW. So i was thinking has anyone tried putting two rings on a synchro for better gear slow down??? Or even is it possible. Also the old clip is stronger than the new so back to square 1.

They really can't send you the diff bearings as there are different bearing sizes. i believe that it is pretty standard not to include them with a tranny bearing set.
That is bad about the weak ring though. Can you just get one from Honda?

Yet on the website they ask if you have 35 or 40mm bearings hmmmm? Neways i was thinkin about just using the old clip.... It felt much stronger. But really dont want to yank the engine ... Again!
Hello and my apologies for any misunderstandings you may have had with our kits. On our website for example:
http://shop.synchrotech-transmission...SYN111-D16.htm
We list all the items that are included in the kits so that our customers know exactly what they are ordering. We also use detailed photographs that match the descriptions. There are a couple of reasons why the diff bearings are sold seperately:
1. Not everyone wishes to replace them
2. There are different bearing sizes that can be used as 4drEF mentioned. This goes across the board with the majority of Honda/Acura transmissions so we decided to keep consistency to avoid confusion.
3. The reason we ask whether you have a 40mm or 35mm bearing size is because that is one way to identify what bearings your transmission has so the correct shaft bearings are sent out with your kit.
I hope this clears up any confusion or misunderstandings. You could have also called us at any time during business hours to discuss what is included in our kits or if you needed any type of clarification and or tech assistance. Many of us here have been working with Honda/Acura transmissions for over 10 years.
As far as the synchro spring is concerned...if you feel the spring is defective. We will be more than happy to replace it at no charge. I would like to know the condition of the gear and the sleeve for 5th gear as that is more likely to be the cause of your grind issue. Let us know so we can help you get your vehicle back in working order

I've been using a Synchrotech DX transmission for almost 2 years now and have had no issues. I'm sure they will do you right if you give them the chance.
Synchrotech will never let you down, anytime companies are mass machining parts there are a few that will slip through QC, one thing you will never have to worry about with Synchrotech is their customer service as James stated above. One of the top notch companies still around.

Its more my fault for not checking..... But you live and you learn i guess.
Every part was still in spec. I put the old synchro spring on the new synchro, it had a much better resistance against the synchro hub than the new one... No worries tho s**t happens, It made me very happy to see the rest of the parts were made in japan
I HATE CHINA MORE THAN WE ALL LOVE HONDAS.
Any ideas where to get L-3 diff bearings and a counter shaft locking nut??

A new locking nut can be purchased from the dealer.
