D16Z6 - got an oil leak

Default D16Z6 - got an oil leak

OK so I cleaned the engine and tranny yesterday with some simple green and hosed it off dried it with some paper towels and it looked awesome now this morning after a run to the store I smelled some oil burning thought it was the old vw next to me so I get home pop the hood and see this ¶ anyone know where that could be leaking from thanks in advance

I guess the old build up was masking the problem and cleaning it just pissed me off know I need to fix it lol I have a slight ocd and it will bug me till its done I'm thinking maybe the dizzy o ring but no leaks inside the cap

Did you try and trace where its coming from? You should be able to follow the path of fresh oil.

Since the vtec solenoid is on the back side, I would guess the dist. o-ring...

Thanks for the input I did try and trace it burned my hand and nose in the process lmao it seems to be under the distributor

Just did another search and supposedly there is a internal and external seal so I guess I'll be ordering those today if its the problem

Seeing oil in the pictured location is generally the distributor O-ring and/or the VTEC solenoid, the latter of which has two separate oil seals.

If the internal seal is bad, you'll find oil inside the distributor. Have you removed the cap, rotor, and inner cover to inspect?

Also, it's like a 90c gasket, replace it for peace of mind.

Vtec solenoid gasket was bought new when I polished it and I found the leak I made a rookie mistake by not adding rtv to the corners when i changed valve covers so it was seeping out from the rear corner thanks for the input guys
