Would a stock ecu and dsm 450's cause 3000+ idle when cold
So here's the deal. I'm working on my turbo build and getting down to the last bits. I have dsm's installed with resistors. I just put arp head studs in so I wanted to start the car to make sure it was timed right. I haven't started it since installing the injectors. I'm still waiting on my chipped ecu to arrive so I started it off the stock p75 (this is a b18b1 ls swap) with open downpipe and it started up rough then smoothed out and then the idle started climbing.
It was really loud with no exhaust so I didn't let it warm up to see if the idle dropped. Any thoughts? Is it due to extra fuel from the larger injectors with no tuned ecu? Before it idled around 1500 cold then would drop down to about 900.

take those injectors back out. THERE'S NO WAY IN HELL, your car will even idle right with a stock ECU. Even if the ECU is chipped, there is no guarantee it will run smoothly. Get some real injectors instead of those DSM's.

It says in the first line of the post that I'm putting together my turbo install. I have neptune ready to go and a basemap for the injectors just waiting on my chipped ecu to arrive. It was more of a curiosity than anything. I'm going to start it after I get the basemap on and see if it levels out.

So it turns out it was a stuck cruise cable coming through the firewall. The grommet popped out and was causing it to put tension on the throttle cable. Fixed it up and the throttle closed back to the stopper. Haven't started it yet but I'm pretty sure that was it.
It will start up of course. Keeping it at a normal idle is another issue. If you insist on using those DSM injectors, go right ahead. Good luck driving it like that to the tuner/dyno shop. Hopefullly, you're not expecting great results by just plugging up a "chipped" ECU at home. That WILL NOT WORK.

Wondering what was the point of the entire question concerning injectors then? And if so, what is the need for a chipped ECU if you plan on running a real EMS?
The point of the post was that I DON'T have the chipped ecu in yet and was wondering if the stock ecu would cause high rpm. The chipped ecu is for running Neptune which requires a socketed ecu.
Then we go back to what we have been saying all along and that is; to try and run larger injectors on a stock ECU, for any purpose, just isn't smart. No one has ever recommended such a practice and I don't see how you thought it was a good idea to try it when no one else does.
The common practice is to throw everything on the car, including EMS and then start tuning the car. You take care of timing during the tuning process. No matter how you try to rationalize your doing otherwise, it was absolutely wrong reasoning.

I never said there was anything wrong with them. In fact, I had a set in my first turbo setup. I'm just saying you CANNOT install them expecting the car to idle right let alone be drivable without tuning the car on a dyno. There is no need to question my knowledge about working on Hondas. I've been messing with these cars before most of these young bucks have been behind the wheel.

yeah....real injectors such as Delphi, RC, PTE, etc.... You can get these in high-impedance trim so you don't have to use the factory Honda resistor box.
Don't misinform the OP by making him think the car will run/idle right with those DSM injectors on a stock ECU. I guess you don't work on your own cars....or you would have known that by now.
