Eg not starting
Attn HT I got a few problems, well one problem in particular. I recently swapped an ls into my eg and it won't start. I used the old eg harness and a p75 ecu. I have full functionality of the interior of the car but when I go to start it nothing happens. I tested the starter externally and it spun the motor so I know the starter works. The car was an auto but I swapped the pedals and the center console. Am I looking at a neutral safety switch issue? Does the car still think its an automatic and is looking for it to be in park? I read of a few other guys with the same issue and they said to short a black and yellow wire together in the center console so it thinks its in park. Tried plugging the old ecu and automatic shifter back in for ***** and giggles put it in park and still got zilch. To anyone who responds, your time and effort are greatly appreciated.
Have you tried arcing the starter in the engine bay?
If it starts that way, then you have a wiring issue from the ignition switch that needs to be looked at.
You're saying the starter doesn't turn AT ALL? just plain nothing?
When you turn the key do the dash lights go off?

I did try arcing the starter in the motor bay and it did work and spin the motor. When I turn the key the dash lights dim as if the starter is drawing power and about to start but nothing happens. I don't think I can even hear the solenoid click.
That sounds like wiring issue between the ignition and the starter, or the solenoid itself then.
Make sure that you plugged everything back in after the swap, also you'll need to check all the connections from the ignition to the starter to see if there's any damage.
Depending on if you want to spend money or not (no one does) you can start with the Ignition start switch (https://www.tnaautoparts.com/1993-ho...FVQV7AoddBMAsQ)
Else you'll have to go to the solenoid next.
It sounds like the starter itself is just fine, just the solenoid, switch, or some circuit.
Electrical gremlins can be naggy and expensive so start with the cheap first, could be as simple and a missed clip after the swap

Yeah I'm hoping its something simple but that never happens huh? When I bought the car I did find an ignition in trunk so its been replaced. I'll double check that and the connections. You don't think its looking for the neutral safety switch or park position?
Double check your grounds first. Do you hear the fuel pump prime for 2 seconds when you turn the key to position 2? The thermostat ground and valve cover ground can cause similar issues to what you're describing, Especially the lights dimming but no starter engagement.
Well the car is currently sans fuel pump. I had assumed that it would try to start even without a fuel pump because cars that have faulty fuel pumps will still try to start. Should the starter have a ground on it? I think I see a spot for one but all that's on it now is the power and the switch

Use the plug from your auto shifter. Splice the thick black/white and black/red wires together.
Splice the green/white and black wires together.
The yellow and green wires are for your reverse lights.

That sounds like a wonderful idea, thank you. I'll also try and find the neutral safety switch and rig it and look at all the plugs and connections on the ignition switch. Any other tips? I have to drive thirty miles to the shop where my car is so I want to go there with my guns loaded.
