Default obd2B d16y8 into obd2A EK

Hey Guys, I'm planning on buying a swap from a friend who has a 99-00 OBD2B D16Y8 from a 99 civic ex.

I'm planning to swap it in my 1996 DX with D16Y7
He has everything except a wiring harness, I know there is alot of options i read but still getting some mix answers.

I am planning to use a 96-98 (obd2a) engine harness : things i have to do ...

1) still have to change OBD2B dizzy plugs or Use OBD2A dizzy ?
2) use OBD2A p2p ex ECU

However I am confused about the whole "air injection deal"

I'm just wondering if this is correct, I maybe missing somethings but swap gurus, what do you guys think

thanks in advance

Easiest but more expensive(around $125 shipped here on H-T)would be to buy the obd2a EX harness and use the obd2a dizz and obd2a P2P this is what I would do unless I have alot of time to do your first option.
I would not even consider your last option

keep the ecu and harness from your civic and swap parts from the 99 engine. I'm in the same boat just the other way around. i can't find a 99 harness for my car

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing ... I looked it up and all obd2 single cam dizzy's are the same ... so i could just use the obd2a dizz as you said.

where could I find that obd2a ex harness for $125 shipped on H-T ? the marketplace? because I don't see it ...

thanks for replying !

This
1) change IACV 3plug to 2 plug
2) use obd2A dizzy
3) Wire knock sensor, V-tec wire, some other stuff
4) use OBD2A EX ECU P2P.

or can i still use the obd2a p2p ecu ?

DO NOT put an OBD2B harness in an OBD2A car, it will not work.

yeah i read that they are different ... and you cannot switch it up .
I know i need to use 96-98 ex harness but what i'm mostly confused about is the air injection holes that come on 99-00 ex civic, but don't come one 96-98 civics.

here is a thread of someone with a similar thread but there are no answers as of what to do with that.

http://www.clubcivic.com/board/showthread.php?t=143846

BTW i have a complete a complete 99-00 d16y8 long block with the manifold

i read you can use the breather hose as a vacuum line but also where else do you run the injection holes for 96 obd2a ek hatch .

Just plug the Air injection hole, I did that when I put a 00 D16Y8 IM on my 99 D16Y7.

Just pull the nipple out of the IM flange, tap it and using thread lock, screw a plug into the hole and done.

Here is the DIY I followed:
Deleting Air injection on 99-00 D16Y8 Intake manifold

You don't have to do that if you have the 99-00 manifold on a 99-00 longblock, only if you are using the 90-00 Y8 manifold on a 96-98 engine. All of it is mechanical and won't effect your ECU at all. Just use the 96-98 harness and ECU.

thanks for the reply, I see what you are saying.

However I have a 99-00 (obd2B) entire 16y8 long block including intake manifold. So i hear I can just just use the breather hose, hook it up to the T fitting near the thermostat and hook that up to the nipple on the intake mani (the one for the air injection) and connect that to the breather hose ....

also I hear people switching the intake manifold gasket to plug up the holes. Is plugging the holes even necessary if you have the entire long block but using 96-98 ECU and harness ? ERG .... thanks everybody for reply

oohhh i see ... you seem like you know what i'm talking about !

here is something i seen concerning the similar situation

the air injection is actually coolant temp activated. there is a switch that looks like a t-fitting on the thermostat housing that regulates it. all you need is to run some vac line from your intake tube, to the t, then out to the port on top of the intake manifold right where it meets the head. it should be completely independant of your ecu and just have to be routed to work. "

so would i have to get custom lines to get all these vacuum lines connected ?

If it doesn't have them them just "T" off a vacuum fitting of similar size and connect the other end to the manifold port like the photo above.
