you need a p2p ecu. unless you have a obd1 harness on the y8, then you need a p28

how do I know if its a p28? as on my ecu from my y8 it has 37820-p28-g03?
also a p28 is from a z6? need one by weekend as the engine is at the garage ready to swap

p28 i belive is a obd1 d16z6 ecu. if will run the y8 find with a obd2-->obd1 harness.

can you post a pic of the plugs on the said p28 ecu you have?

You can use the OBD2 P28 as it is the same as the P2P. As far as unlocking it I'm not sure as in the US you wouldn't have to but I know some European Honda Civics have an immobilizer.
