Default Is this normal BOV operation?? Video...

So I hooked up vacuum from my Tial BOV to the back of my manifold, the vacuum holds the valve 100% open at idle. I worked all week to get my AFRs right and improve idle ect. Then once I hooked up vacuum and the valve was open everything I did went to hell. Is this normal? It seems really unsafe like anything can fly in there, its basically a huge hole in my charge pipe...

Yuck. I had to play this 4 times because of all the ads that were used in this interface. For future reference, please use another video interface other than dailymotion. Just too much to go through to hear this video.

Now to the matter at hand. Most hondas don't have the vacuum to have BOV release noises at idle. so the fact that its opening now, at such low rpm sounds about normal, unless there's a leak. did you compare your vacuum source with the spring you have? (If it was a stock Honda engine with no camshaft, it looks at least that you have the right spring to start off with..).

How's the BOV under load? That's the bigger question that you have to ask yourself. Driving with the car under boost is much better way to tell if things are proper, and compare that to your vacuum readings at idle.

Do that first, use another interface, then get back to us.

Good luck.

dont act line mines i can tell you that.

Mines is close at idle and when i give it a little gas it closes just a bit more and then opens.
I have a god speed 50mm and it has a 8psi spring which i cut a coil off.

It should be closed, step up to a stronger spring. Tial lists the springs on their site.
Mine stayed open at idle as well when I first put it on and had to change the spring...
Take it as a good sign that the car is making good vacuum

Well after doing some more research and looking at countless YouTube videos of BOVs at idle, I think im going to upgrade springs. The unpainted spring for the old Tial 50mm has a different spring rate than the unpainted spring for the Q style. The old un-painted spring being 11lbs and the new un-painted Q style spring being 10lbs (MINE). So im going to step up to the pink spring 11lbs, hopefully that will keep it lightly closed cause I just cannot live with un-filtered are being able to enter my system, even at idle. Thanks guys.

I doubt its actually sucking anything in....I'd imagine the turbo is forcing air out. But keeping it closed initially will help build pressure just slightly faster.
