mines from an automatic. The only difference is the auto has extra pipes on the bottom for trans cooler. It makes no difference for coolant heat transfer effectiveness.

You can install all aluminum racing style rad for next ta' nothing. If you feel like you need additional cooling capacity then order one. But it seems as if alot of people use the oem one even on boosted apps..

I personally use all aluminum racing style rads just for the additional capacity and they are more effective at cooling than a oe unit will. Each to their own.

all aluminum rads are more peace at mind... ive seen many stock rads bust where the aluminum fins mate with the plastic top and bottom crack and leak. many factory stock cars run fine with these radiators but eventually they do break over time. plastic does tend to break down over time with large amounts of heat...

agreed, i install 100% aluminum rad's in all my hondas except our cr-v.

Can't beat the price. I need as much piece of mind as i can get.

They are relatively cheap and they last what seems like forever.

Yeah I want to get an all aluminum for the more cooling. I'm thinking about a 3 core radiator with a slim fan?

An aftermarket radiator isn't necessary, but isn't a terrible idea either. Back in the day, I ran a dual core, single wide Civic SI rad on my boosted GSR without ever having issues. You'll be fine with OEM

Yeah stock is fine even for boosted cars out here in Arizona. I am running a stock D series half rad on my Ls Vtec swapped EJ and I have no overheating issues at all. Mine is also an aftermaket OEM replacement rad and it is for an auto, only difference is the auto rad has the trans cooler built in it but it works just fine on a 5 spd. All aftermarket replacement rads will have the trans cooler, makes it easier for the companies that build them so they only have to make 1 style rad for both auto and 5 spd.

So no need to get an aftermarket one? Or is it better to get an aftermarket one to cool it better?

a racing 100% aluminum rad is like 80 bucks... if you live in az then i would get the 2 or 3 row aluminum rad.

Why use what will be "ok" when you can simply put one in that will definitely do the job and have additional cooling capacity.
