RADIATOR!!! OVERHEATING!!!
I just recently got a honda civic that overheats. I replaced the thermostat and the radiator cap. Now I noticed that the radiator does leak and I am losing coolant. So now I have to replace the radiator. Does anyone know if it matters what kind of radiator I replace it with? Can I use any civic radiator? Does it matter if the radiator is from a manual or automatic car? Should I purchase a used oem radiator or purchase a brand new one from schucks? Please help!

just got done with this problem. i myself replaced the thermostat and i installed a new radiator. i went with an alluminum radiator from ebay it was about the same price as going to any autoparts store and buying the stock one this is including the shipping. i say you do the same its alot better then a stock one.

So any aluminum one is ok? I saw some at schucks for 100? Do you think that would be fine?

as long as it fits im sure you'll be fine. but the one i bought bolted right up i was even able to use my stock fan. you have to make sure the measurements are close you dont want to buy a radiator thats to tall and your hood doesnt want to close do your research first.

Thanks. I appreciate your help. But my car is an automatic. And I'm told that I need an oil cooler also. And that the radiators are different for automatics and manual transmissions. So I'm wondering if I should just go to honda and buy an oem one or should I spend that on an aluminum radiator?

Thanks. I really appreciate your help. I read through it and did notice that people are saying the ones at autoparts stores do work fine. I mean mines is only a d-series so I'm guessing I don't really need the aluminum one but it would be nice to have one of those. Still deciding........

I know for a fact because my car used to be automatic and had lines running into my radiator. Now I just have the radiator holes plugged up since I have a 5-speed now.
