Default Running rich before, now burning oil.

93 Civic w/ B18C1. The only modification is Skunk2 Intake Manifold. Everything else is stock. So when i did the swap it was running rich; Black smoke on bumper. I Reset the ecu and it was still running rich. Due to school and work, i have to time to fix. I drove the car running rich for about a month and now its burning oil; Blue smoke from muffler. I need to know what happen between running rich and burning oil. How does running rich leads to burning oil?

Cylinder 1

Cylinder 2

Cylinder 3

Cylinder 4

Running an engine rich can wash the cylinders, which messed up the rings. Messed up rings cause burning oil.

No. You need to pull the rotating assembly and have a machine shop hone the block. You then need to replace the rings while reassembling the motor. While you have it all apart, you might as well replace the main bearings. You can get away without pulling the rod bearings, though.

Why would you do all that work and not replace rod bearings?
