Default stock swap info-help

Thanks for the help in advance I respect a lotta people on here.My niece had -has a 96 d16y8 auto ex car with perfect engine & auto trans. However someone liked it so much they T-boned it at a traffic light-totalled.I have a 94 civic ex automatic car with a d16z6 that burns oil and a blown head gasket.I know little about its history. What is my smartest and maybe cheapest method of fixing up a car for her to go to school and how difficult from ob11 back to ob1?? all help appreciated--Duke

the engine will swap with no problem, but you wont be able to use the 96 trans, youll have to put the 94 transmission on the d16y8 and drop it in and reconnect the wiring to the engine

Wow. That attitude will get you lots of help around here.

In this case OBD2 to OBD1 means nothing. Why? Because you are also going to take the ECU from the totalled car and the wiring harness. The car that the engine goes into will now be OBD2. Make sense?

True but if he doesn't take the ECU and harness would he then not need an OBD2 to OBD1 jumper harness?

nope, no need for jumper harness, if the switches the injectors, distributor, and alternator from his obd1 z6 to his obd2 y8, he will have done all he needs to convert the y8 to obd1.

then drop it in the obd1 car. using the stock p28 vtec ecu to run his newly converted obd1 engine

and you cant use the obd2 wire harness in this swap because it is all one piece from ecu to engine, so the dash would have to be removed to get the whole harness

Ah yes. I missed your post above about taking the injectors, distributor and alternator from the other car.
