I have a code 23 (knock sensor). The check engine light doesnt come on until the motor gets to optimum temperature. With that said i can shut the car and start it back up immediately and the light will stay off until i drive maybe a 1/4 mile before coming back on. Is that a bad sensor or is it something else?
Problem 2. I got a leak behind the housing where the oil filter screws on to. Its behind the housing running down the block and hitting the header. Does the housing need to be replaced or is it a gasket or o ring of some sort i could replace?
Thanks for any help.

The ECU is in "open loop" mode until the engine reaches operating temp., meaning that it's not looking sensor signals yet. So it makes sense that your CEL doesn't come on until the engine warms up. I would bet it's a faulty sensor or a wiring fault.
I'm a bit confused by your description of the leak. Doesn't the filter screw straight onto the block? I admit I haven't spent much time looking back there.

OK ill try purchasing a knock sensor tomorrow and giving that a try.
It looked like it screwed onto something that was connected to the block. Ill double check tomorrow when i lift it up cause i have to do the oil pan gasket as well.
thanks again.

i guess that is the cooler? thought the cooler was like a radiator type of thing, i dunno much about hondas. The filter definately screws onto something that is connected to the block.
Just a suggestion, but when I replaced my knock sensor there was multiple ebay sensors and according to my research vtec/ nonvtec have diff sensors- I'm guessing diff frequency range (engine harmonics) is why.

thanks FCM. Yeah #11 is what it screws onto but i need #19 which is the o ring behind that which is what i think is leaking.
@S2BumpsticksGSR yeah mine is vtec im, just gonna go to the parts store and get a sensor and see if that is the problem. It might be the wiring because i used the harness off my d16z6 caus eit was vtec and my cousin did the swap he said because mine was vtec it should work.
