Icon3 d15b8 n/a build help!!!!

so i got a 92 civic hb cx with a d15b8 and 330xxx miles on it right now. i got a few questions.
will the d15 si vtec 16 valve head bolt on no prob with my block i have now? and what problems will i run into if any?
will and aftermarket IM increase hp or should i stick with the si IM and how would i wire up vtec
i also know that the rods on my d15 are thin and weak af, so is there any replacement rods i can use to increase power without machining the block.
i would like to stick with bolt on type mods unless there is an easy way to increase power??

It may, some D15B8s had 4 valve relief pistons, some only had 2. The only way to find out is to pull the head.

Honestly if you going to the trouble of replacing rods you might as well just start with a better engine. Even a complete D16Z6 is a much better starting platform. Also don't really expect to make any real amount of power on an NA d-series.

research a little engine theory first, that alone will answer your question,
or better yet compare that displacement with todays modern japanese imports boasting 2.0L or higher most of the time.

1.5L displacement =

Then come to the realization that the engine you have was created for fuel economy, reduced noise, reliability.

Not power, and def not torque.

If you had a scope you probably could.

Actually not true. The Fit and Yarris are both 1.5L cars and the Cruze is a 1.4 Turbo. Also Nissan I think still has a 1.6 aswell. So... I'm not sure what ur talking about. Throw a y8 head on there if it has 4 valve relief pistons and use a y8 manifold. The motor should make about 140HP if its in good condition. I had a buddy years ago that took a totally stock B7 and put a Y8 head on it and it made around 140HP w/ no intake and a crappy ebay header (idr the one he even had it was some cheap crap).

Swap the tranny to a EX one or a Si one and the car will be alot more enjoyable. Not Fast, but def quicker than it was before. Stock B8's are dogs.

Here's the overall point of trying to build an N/A D-series. 140hp? Not fast by any means. For the work involved you need to ask yourself if the return on investment is worth it.

So a y8 head will just bolt right on?? And I plan on changing the head gasket at the same time. And any more hp is way better than having only 70 hp if tht at the age of my motor being 20 yrs old with 330xxx I also dont on planning ending its life anytime soon as long as she lives she gone be staying in my eg or other cars i will own cause its reliable af. so I think the return on my investment will be pretty imo

I found all the answers to the questions you are asking without ever posting once. Just do some research on mini-me's. There are a few very good write-ups on the subject that will tell you all you need to know.

I learned the hard way trying to just "bolt on" a Y8 head. Very expensive mistake. You can almost get away with it on a normal DX engine but the CX/B8 engine has a few things that need to be addressed first before you convert it to anything at all. That's why I made that link, to hopefully save someone else the trouble.
