Car is a darton sleeved GSR, Makes over 500 Whp, Right now it has a huge external ugly coil , I need to replace the distributer and wanna know If just putting a OEM distributer setup will be fine for the power im making, I prefer not running one if I dont have too. Thanks guys.
If it works, it works... especially if over 500whp.. Just replace what you need... don't be lazy.. c'mon now.

not too mention previous owner put a see thru blue distributer cap on the car, it's all just a big eye sore!
Change to a MSD black cap, and you should be good for a bit. Using a good ignition box helps even more, but if you want to use what you have for now, now?

This horse has been beaten over and over. You will get the die hard people that like to swear by the weak *** stock ignition. They spend 10-15 grand on a setup and cheap out on an ignition system. You can put a rock solid ignition in the car for 250 bucks that will take you to 800+ hp without problems.
Summit, mallory, msd box. Crane ps92 coil r the newer version LX92 has a little more spark output power. Remove ignitor and build yoru self an ignitor delete or i build and sell them. either way thats rock solid system tried and true. Ive been running mine for years not a single issue, nice healthy sprak plugs gaps and a bunch of boost no issues

. As a matter of principle, Power level is only a small factor in determining whether or not an ignition is robust enough for continued use, and more likely abuse.

move the coil... all that requires is a new, longer wire to the cap and possibly lengthening the trigger/power wires..... i would personally put it behind the motor somewhere so it can't be seen

Somehow that thread I made previous, I can no longer find again, either way Im still just trying to get a solid answer, I guess I will go with a Black MSD cap and keep that coil and just try and hide it somewhere so I dont have to look at the ugly thing everytime I open my hood.
You could start by fixing the hacked wiring, securing the coil, and changing the cap. Just buy a longer spark wire and relocate the coil. You could even buy a bulkhead for the firewall and hide it inside. Many ways around this and it is also part of being modified. It doesn't look to be a full out race car or even a show car. I would have function over form any day.

^ that made a good difference for me. Was able to raise the gap and was leaning out at a couple of lbs of boost less then with the OEM coil. That is, my fuel system was maxxed
Well, let us just hope you don't start eating igniter/ICM's when you go back to stock style. There could be more than one reason they went to that funky external setup. Have fun scratching your head.
Just my opinion about ignition systems, I have NEVER had good luck with Accel products, not in the past 20+ years (no offense to the friend that stocks them). I have, however, been blown away by the Aqua Pulser ignition booster. Their site pretty well explains what it does.

Just sayin lol
