What to do with 6265 with a bent shaft..
So i picked up a "blown" pte 6265 for $150 with a plan to send it off to PureTurbos and have them do a simple rebuild, which would give me a nice turbo with a warranty for around $500.. sounded good.
So apparently the shaft is bent and the compressor wheel is a little chewed up, not sure if this happened when it bent or if it took in debris and some other point, but i found out i needed a whole new center section and the 62mm wheels are very pricey..
I was told the cheapest route i could go would be to have a new center section put in with a custom fitted gtx3582 wheel for $700. which would put me around $900 invested after shipping back and forth, which is more than i could get a brand new one for..
think i should just sell the housings to re-coop my $$$? have PureTurbos build a custom gtx center section? open to any other suggestions, comments, concerns, advice..

figured so. well, If anyones interested here you go.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Precision-62...item337ef7485f
Have you tried calling precision and find out what a rebuild would cost ? Otherwise part it out sell the housings and junk the CHRA
They offered my buddy $150 off a new one if he sent it in, so he sold it to me for that. Truthfully, I really just don't want precision to rebuild it..

It's almost never worth it to rebuild unless something really minor is bad like a oil seal.
Do this: Make lamp, sell lamp, use money to buy new turbo.

Wow love the lamp. I just may have to build one with my spare ebay turbo I never used lol. I was doing to build one of those turbo turbine jet engines with it lol. You guys ever see those? That looks like fun too. Maybe you could do that with your broken Precision too.
Weld it to a Stock accord manifold and try to use it.

Wait, all you guys have never seen that picture? Lol, it's almost as old as HT
So I guess you haven't seen the crank lamp either
It's held up by bar stock, that's what the cable is wrapped around

I sure hadn't. I've seen coffee tables made from engine blocks and all sorts of other engine decorations but never the turbo lamp or a crank lamp lol.
