Is Stock headlights better than Halo?
Hey guys, I was thinking of replacing my ek's stock headlights with halos but I heard from my friend that theres cons on halos like they are not as good or they can break after a short time? Im just not car savvy, still learning
The "Halo" is a cosmetic piece. Projector style head lights will do a better job focusing the light from a HID converted bulb, but it is still not a properly HID retrofited headlight.

Don't buy halo/projectors head lights, I use to have them with HID installed and the were a crap, the light turned yellow/greenish even with 6000k HIDs and they are never well sealed so they get water and dust in, save your money and do a retrofit, you won't regret it, I have just done it, it was a huge difference. In fact I'm about to post a build thread for the retrofit
Leave halos on BMWs and other cars that have them OEM. putting on halos is the same as all the cars that have the audi style LEDs in their headlights. It looks very tacky. Just do a retrofit.
I kinda like the look of halos tho and I have 8k hids but I've never had halos before so thats why Im unsure about getting them because what I heard about the quality of the headlights
Find out if your state allows retrofits or HID's before you spend money.
Some states dont allow upgrades if it didnt come on your car as a stock option.

Yep, Cali is one of the states that chooses to enforce it
I don't know if Cali has a law on the books specifically for HIDs and retrofits, but I know the majority of states have a "if the Fed say it's illegal, we do to" law. Same with the vast number of localities nationwide in regards to state laws. It's basically just a catch-all to give local and state police more power to enforce what they consider "big picture" problems. What really sucks is when a county cop cites you on that county "catch all" law, and then refers to the state "catch all" law.
The state says they enforce the federal law, and we enforce the state law, so son, you just got fucked.
