Default Preface - Interview with Kenny @ Turbogixxer Tuning

I had the pleasure of speaking with a good friend and mentor of some issues that I believe have needed to be addressed for some time. Hopefully this can save both the tuner and the customer from headache (some LOL), blame and an overall bad experience. As a tuner myself, there are issues that arise which leave you wondering, as a tuner.....how can I avoid that or what could I have done to prevent a customer from being dissatisfied? What needs to be addressed before a customers engine can be properly tuned? What does a customer need to know about their tuner before handing them the keys? Why should a customer know the difference between a piggyback, standalone, freeware and why should they choose one over another? Why should a DIY'er use neptune, hondata, AEM, Haltech, MOTEC over crome, uberdata, zdyne...etc? Is it really just a price tag with the same result?

We discussed these questions in our interview and it left me wondering what the readers want to know. So before i get into allowing Kenny help answer these questions, i would like to know what you, as the consumer, customer, tuner...whatever you are, would like to know about these instances. I cant tell you how many times i have read on the internet that "it must be a tune issue" when the engine is mechanically out of time or some other issue that is completely out of the control of the tuner.

I think this is a good idea, its a known issue behind the curtain, and its time that its out in the open.. I think Chris said it best on your status but i'm in it, to win it! LOL.. can't wait to see this!

I want to see the opinion on redoing other shops mess ups, or poor build/tuning.. Whats the take on trying to go above and help someone else out with poor work supplied? Does it fall on you if something does go wrong?

Glad to see him develop his skills to the masses on a grand scale.

This is interesting. I have a few concerns about choosing a competent tuner.
