AEM EMS or hondata s200

Re: AEM EMS or hondata s200 (98civicguy)
overall I'd say EMS has more features, but as far as ease of tuning I'd say hondata...either way, both are good systems, however, lately I've been hearing problems with the EMS unit going bad, not sure what their warranty is...

Hondata is what Im shooting for. Cheaper unit, easier tunning. And I have heard about the AEM going bad as well.

You can't go wrong with either unit.
Hondata is easier to tune but has less features. The Hondata will perform better on daily drivers as you still maintain a factory ECU. AEM gives you almost infinite capability but you need to know how to use it as well as have the time to do it.

This is the longest on going debate on h-t.com. Seriously, this need to stop...
But Uberteg's chip gets my vote

I don't know about that. The B18b1 vs. B16 for boost battle has been raging for pretty long too...

Re: AEM EMS or hondata s200 (MachAF)
it took me a while to get familiar with the aem. And took my tuner forever to tune it, and it still wasnt driving too good. I've heard of so many people loving the hondata and the ease of tuning. so you should go with the hondata.
I went with the aem because i had an obd2 car and thought it'd be about the same price as hondata. I hated the aem unit at first. Then i got familiar with it and it wasnt soo bad. Other than the coil driver #1 going bad and losing an arm and leg for tuning the aem was nice. So many freakin parameters....you can control basically anything on your motor.

this issue is non stop. hondata is more user friendly that has been proven. if you are looking for 300-600whp go hondata. very simple. according to frank at sfp who has been flown over to AEM to help work out some bugs in the software. he says it sucks if you are revving the car 9k+. the ignition drivers suck. he uses the aem on supras all day long and the hondata on hondas. just my .02
