Default Help rebuilding a turbo(chosing a wheel size)

Turbo is T3/T4 It has a .63a/r hot side, .50a/r cold side, i bought it because it was cheap and i was told its burning oil (oil seal). Anyway when i took it to rebuild shop...

So i need to change everything, and the guy said that i can chose whatever wheals spec i want.

Engine is

sohc d16a6 9.1 cr
oem headgasket
cp pistons
fj rods
fic 680cc
head p&p
oversized valves 1mm
isky springs and retainers
i have 2 cams delta 272 and 262
fmic
tial 38 wategate
bailey bov
custom exhaust manifold(i can make almost whatever i want)
full exhaust 2.5 with dynamax super turbo(no problem going 3 later on)
tuned on crome dealer(gold)

i was reading a lot and some guys said that the turbo is big for d, and it spools in 5000rpm area...and i would like something a little earlier...

im planing 350whp, i was thinking on copying the standard 5031 turbo - Garrett t3/t4e spec, but im worried about the spool coming late...

I need help choosing a turbine wheel first, im a little lost ...

thanks

Not much of a turbo guru but I'd just look into what all the other guys are running. I know plenty of B series guys run .50 trim .48 a/r and .57 trim .63 a/r setups and they claim full spool by 3.5-4k rpms.

Any wheel change will require machining the housings or housing swaps. You cannot go smaller without smaller housings.

i think that machining a housing is not a problem but i know there is a limit in a wheel size...

It has a turbonetics 20358 .63a/r hot side, and the turbine wheel was

54.6 mm
63.8mm

compressor side is .50a/r garrett

51
74-75mm
