T3/T70 too Big?
I'm thinking about getting a t3/t70 exhuast is .68 and intake is .70 a/r with a 3" vband exhaust outlet. Do you think this is too big of a turbo for me? I'm running a 81.5mm gsr motor (sleeves, pistons, rods, portflow head, etc..) and shooting for 550whp. What kinda lag do you think I'll experience?
I'm basically stuck between buying this turbo or the "proven" sc61.

you have any pictures of the turbo? I'm not postive but i've never heard of a t70 coming with a vband t3 exhaust housing. Either way i'd still go with the sc61. Like you said its a proven turbo, it has worked very well for a lot of people on this board.
have you seen the t3/t67??
full race makes a high output one with a p-trim exhaust wheel.. pretty sick..
sounds like a turbo you might want to look into...

550whp go with a t3/60-1. That's all you need. t3/t67 will have too much lag for the street. t3/60-1 at high boost is like instant power. WAY better mid-range and drivability as well.

i know the t70 he is alking about. its one of those ssac ones. because all of them now come with v-band discharges. just go with the sc61.

No it's not the sschrome one, it's a "real" master power turbo not the fake china stuff. Both the precision and the master power turbo are in the $600 range. I would like to get a t3/t67 full race but it's almost $900.

Which one flows better, sc61 or 60-1? I always thought the 60-1 is kinda an outdated turbo. Without a 3" Vband, won't the exhuast be really restricted since most of the outlet flanges are about 2.50"

I like the master power turbos. I found they spool very quick for the size of the turbos. The "T3/T70" is kind of an oddity. It isn't like a T3/T67 with a Stage 5 wheel or a P-trim wheel in a cutout T3 housing, it's physically the same size as a T4 housing, it's just cast with the smaller T3 inlet flange.
My girlfriend has over 18K miles on her Master Power T3/TO4E 57-trim on her LS, and it's going strong. Much higher quality than the SSAC/XSpower on Ebay.

Very true, The 61 will begin spooling around 4200-4500 and push boost up to and past redline.

my 81.5mm ls/vtec maxxed out the psi effeciency of my old t3/60-1 and i was only able to make 475whp... this was on 9.0:1 comp... if you were at 2L i would say you might make it but i think you wont be able to see 550 with a 1.8L... im getting a gt35r to make around 550 but alot of people dont want to spend that kind of money.... my second choice was high output t3/t67... for the price of it you WONT go wrong...
