Default Back with some more electrical gremlins!

I defeated my wiper problem, and fixed the polarity problems with blinkers...

Now time to figure out this damned dome light situation. The light works, only when "ON", it does NOT work when the door is open but in the door ajar position.

The switch tested fine when placed into another EK. The door ajar switch is fine also, because it chimes with keys in the ignition/lights on when the car is turned off and door is opened. Stops when i manually push the switch in.

So... Besides for my rear defogger not working... What are possible causes to cause this issue! (Rear Defrost is next on the list after this is solved)

In a nut shell, there was lots of wiring changed up.

EDIT: Quick drawing of the wiring on my car.

The OBD2A wire harness routes control of the dome light by the door switch through the stock radio. You can fix the problem by shorting two terminals in the radio connector.

--- Forgot to answer. I do have an aftermarket radio with the proper jumper that goes to the cluster harness. I actually don't use the radio though because of the lack of speakers (why no speakers you ask? BECAUSE RACE CAR!)

--- What terminals exactly are the ones we are speaking about? I didn't have this problem in my last 98 civic hatch with the same radio in it. I recently sold my 98 civic hatch, and made my track car into my daily since it was newer and way less mileage. Same radio, technically same obd2a harness. Worked fine in old car, not this one.

I don't remember the exact terminals. It's a common problem that you will easily find with a search. It would probably also be found in the FAQs sticky.

The PO may have shorted the terminals in the radio connector in your 98 Civic after installing the aftermarket radio.

Defogger - does voltage reach the Blk/Blu wire at rear window when the button is pressed?

Does the button light illuminate when it is pressed?

--- my 00 civic was owned since new, only has 50k on it currently. the 98 civic was completely stock when purchased from the dealer. Had oem radio in it, along with the car being 100% untouched.

Not doubting your knowledge, just stating my facts and situation. I am not a dummy when it comes to wiring, but all these stupid issues make me doubt my work lol. What do you recommended i enter into search for the shorting problem?

(also if this matters any, i have had this radio in many of my cars... All lights worked fine when in my old vehicles, 94 gsr, 94 ls, 94 rs, 98 gsr, and the 98 hatch. there is probably like 2-3 more i am not remember that this radio was in.

If i unplug the jumper/radio from the cluster harness... would it fix the situation at hand if... the shorting/wiring issue is the cause?

Defogger, the relay is audibly heard when defogger switch is depressed. Have fuses in both 16-17, and light is active. Besides for that, i didn't spend much diagnostic time because my rear plastics are on and i wasn't in the mood to remove the paneling to get to the sensors in the rear.

Quoted something you posted on a thread, and found this DIY. It's for a 96-98 though. IIRC my 00 climate control harness is separate from the 98 dash harness. (For defogger reasons) The speedo harness (that also goes to radio should be the same).

If you unplug the 10P connector from the integrated control unit and then ground the connector terminal at B8, does the dome light turn on?

When dome light on (door open only) setting and the door open. 10p unplugged and B8 grounded. No light. If I switch it to (on all the time) it will still work with the 10p unplugged.

That 96-98 diagram won't work for me since I'm using the 00 radio harness. It's a small blue plug instead of the wide short gray one on the 96-98.
