Default 1996 Honda civic ex coupe power lock problem

Hello I have a 1996 Honda civic Ex Coupe. When I bought the car it came without a radio, but I installed an aftermarket radio. I got the dome light to work with out the factory radio by bypassing it in the stock radio plug. My problem is the power door lock, I have to either manually lock the door by pressing on the lock tabs or the key. How do I get my power door locks to work as intended? I know you need the factory radio for the keyless entry, but do you also need it for the power locks? Thank you in advance.

Removal of the factory stereo disables the dome light and keyless entry. I believe schose makes a wire harness that has an extra jumper wire that runs to the factory stereo. On my old civic I kept the factory head unit behind the dash and retained both features.

Just to be clear, do the locks work when you press the tab, example, you lock the driver's and the passenger's shut as well, so you have power right?

In order for keyless to work you need to get a 96-98 civic radio look on ebay, you need a T harness, basically it hides the civic radio and you keep your new radio, just hope no factory plugs were cut. You will need a transmitter, after it all is installed you will program it.

well that's the thing I checked the fuses and there is power going to the lock but i didn't check the lock switch to see if is getting power. To answer your question when i press the tab it doesn't do anything I know so far the fuse is good.

What did you find out with this? I have the same problem with my 96 Civic EX. Power from fuse under hood to control module in driver door but, still not working. Do you know of any other relays or tests I can check?

The control box on the driver side door was installed upside down by prev. owner. It had filled up with water and that's the reason it didn't work so I bought one on ebay and problem solved.

Wow, upside down and then full of water? Mine ended up being broken wires at the driver side door jam plug. I think there was only two or three that where still hanging on when I got to it. Yes, the front fender has to come off but, it wasn't too difficult. Someone was already in there and spliced five or six wires previously. I just cut everything and made it all uniform. Good news, everything works properly now! Power locks and power windows. I would like to post a picture of the plug and its location, how do I do that? Thanks for the troubleshooting help.
