Default Turbo Oil Feed... too small?

What's up guys?

Just got an oil feed/return kit and I'm trying to figure out if the hole is big enough, it doesn't look like much oil will be able to flow. Anyone have a similar setup that works fine?

It's a restrictor. Run with it.

This. The oil feed line for the turbo needs some kind of restrictor in it - stock oil pressure will blow out seals in a turbo.

Depending if you have a ball bearing or journal bearing turbo and what size feed usually determines to some extent whether you may need a restrictor or not.
Ball bearing, with -4 feed, small restrictor generally.
Journal bearing with -3 feed, some don't run one.
It doesn't seem like there's a hard and fast rule though, except that as long as your return is good, if it smokes then add a restrictor.

^^

I was thinking the same thing when I saw it.. Those soft aluminum ebay flanges are garbage but i wasnt going to say anything... but after attaching a line to it, i bet it will leak severely.

Id stick to the tried and true inline brass restrictor

Not sure on the size... the hole is a little bit bigger than it looks, but not much. I guess I will try it and if it does in fact leak I will opt for a brass fitting.

Yes. You'll want a .065" restrictor, and for the love of all things holy, don't run one of the stupid restrictor flange like this..

OK cause I see where people were saying journal bearing turbos don't need a restrictor, how will I know if the restrictor is a.065? How do I measure the hole?

you order a proper restrictor! Lol! These restrictor flanges like this pictured are not good at all. I'd suggest an actual restrictor fitting; talk to Go-Autoworks. I got the stuff I needed for my GTW setup for 20 bucks, if I remember correctly.

Your turbo manufacturer will list the required restrictor

Or just buy quality parts one time from a reputable seller. Such as speed trap consulting. They sold me all the correct parts for my turbo. I dont even have to wonder if what I have is correct.

^^ Always a plus! I have the NPT-AN fitting from Vibrant that came with 2 jets, .030 and .065 , I am looking for the package with part number. That's the one that came from Go-Autoworks.

Edit: I couldn't find the original package but I looked up the invoice.. It was a -4AN oil inlet restrictor jet. Greg should know more info from there. Lol!
