buying a used swap - opinions? (sorry i know these are annoying ?s)
i came across something i may want to pick up. a local dude here is selling his jdm gsr swap for ~$2500 if i give him my stock cx engine. i checked it out today. he's has it in a Ek and is including all the mounts the ac bracket from a del sol as well as a uninstalled CM 8 pound flywheels a uninstalled stage 3 act clutch. allt he wiring has been compleated. basicaly this will be a bolt in deal for my car. i did a compression test on it today and it comes up 148 on each cylinder. i thoubht that was a little low but it was perfectly consistant. the plus look normal. but the bad thing is i can hear a ticking noise from the engine. i asked if he ever had hte valves adjusted and he told me he had someone do it but the dude said he could not adjust one of them. he mumbled something about it being stuck. what do y'all think? i have no idea what to make of the whole thing
really..if you think about it...every swap is used unless you are buying acrate motor fomr Honda. I wouls ask him if you could take his car to your mechanic to get it checked out. If he agrees..cool, if he doesn't, forget about it. Consider yourself lucky, the majority of people who buy swaps never get to see or hear their motor running before they buy it....we just have to pray there are no problems...good luck man.

it MIGHT be a good deal, but why is he parting from it? probably because something is messed with the valves, and that low compression doesn't look THAT good either..
get a friend/mechanic to look it over
good luck
