Icon2 Looking for opinions on 97 HX/00 Y8 swap

Bought a 97 civic hx
Thought wow, pretty rare to find a decent Hx for $1500.. Ran a lil rough but i figured cleaning the egr system would resolve...

Long story short i spent a few hundo on gaskets and sensors and another few hundo on tires, turns out the Y5 has a blown head gasket after i resolve everything else.. Well the reason the head gasket blew is cause the sleeves are chipped all around the brim.

Now.... where i ended up, had no luck finding a block soo spent another 500 on a 00 d16y8 with everything but trans ecu and wire harness...

Figure id rather be done back on the road and rejuvinating my funds.

Y8 has knock sensor, air injection intake manifold, and a 4 wire primary.

Now i need to keep it cheap, have like 100$ left lol.
My obivous options are use all my hx components and harness and ecu, but i want the y8 to run the way it was meant not on a vtec-e ecu, the egr probably wont work and i heard its gonna run a lil weird. The motors may be the same casting but the internals are different.

Alright so run a obd2a y8 ecu... Well ill throw check engine lights and she wont run with out knock sensor and missing a primary oxy sensor.

So my conclusion is to run the y8 with no hickups and no more pushing my car home, only way to run the hx harness will be with a obd2a to obd1 jumper and p28 delete the oxygen sensors and hide the wires.. No check engine lights and probably the cheapest route...

a y8 harness and ecu will run me $250 quick
Chipped p28 is half that and all thats left is blocking the air injection on the manifold.

Please dont get mad at me swapping a hx i promise im trying to preserve the wire harness and everything else i have for it cause once i find a nice y5 block im going stock again, was just tired of not having a car and no one would drive me to find parts..

Get an OBD2A Y8 ECU (P2P) reuse your current harness, repin for 4 wire O2 sensor. Find a knock sensor and wire it in.

Or just swap the Y5 head onto the Y5 block, the bottom end is the same

For your vtec wiring, spend $60 on Rywire.com for a vtec sub harness which will have your vtec pressure switch, vtec solenoid plug and knock sensor plug all on it with the pinning for the ECU; that's what I did for my mini me, it'll save you a couple $ from buying a full y8 harness; you can find o2 sensors and knock sensor at your local junk yard for dirt cheap, and your P2P ECU and head gasket is all you should need; I'd replace head studs also all at the same time; depending on Auto/Manual your IACV will need rewired but junkyard will have your 2/3 wire iacv also for cheap

You no like the idea of using a p28 no knock sensor no o2 sensor?

D16y8 installed and will not turn with chipped p28 and jumper harness, plugged a stock ecu and it'll at least turn over.

Any insite? When I turn the key I hear a relay clicking instead of the fuel pump
