Do you have to "break in" a new turbo system?
Might be a dumb question but I'm driving my 1650 lb Mini with a JDM B18 Type-R engine down to Go-Autoworks tomorrow for the installation of a turbocharger system....they're doing it all.
The turbo is going to be a Garrett GT280RS with both oil and water cooling.
The engine isn't going to be opened and has about 30,000 miles on it. I'm sure the work and tune will take a more than a couple of weeks. When finished, I plan to get it back the same way I'm getting it down....drive it. It's going to be a mild tune compared to what I've read here. The total drive is about 600 miles.
The transmission has a Housman 3.47 F/D so with 205/50-13 tires, the engine turns about 3300 rpm at 70 mph.
Is there driving habit or tel tail signs of anything I should avoid or watch for? Besides the local law?
It's going to a Hondata S300 and a TunerView display. I should be able to see the train leaving the rails if something starts to go wrong. Well, truth is, I probably will suffer from information overload and not have a clue if something is going haywire.

Drive normal...no boost obviously since it wont be tuned. Listen/smell/look for burning, leaking, dripping, steam, etc. Since the engine isn't brand new, there's no need to seat the rings or do any of that jazz. Aside from pre-oiling the turbo prior to startup, i've never done much preparation and have had good results thus far.
