no, not unless you plan on running 30+lbs of boost later.

i would replace the stock map sensor with a 3 bar just for some insurance and to be able to increase boost (with a new tune) in the future

No................ The stock map sensor can read up to 11 psi.

A stock GSR motor with that turbo will hit your goal 270-280 whp on about 8 psi with a good tune.

Should be a fun DD, and safe whp number to ensure reliability, as long as it is tuned well and has good crank case ventilation.....good luck on your set up.

I plan on taking it to a reputable dyno in my area.

Would running a catch can from the pcv to the manifold be sufficient.

Crankcase ventilation is something that has been discussed millions of times, and everyone has their own oppinion about it.

The idea is to keep boost out of the crankcase....so nothing should be hooked to the manifold.

Get a catch can that is "vented" or has open ports on the top with small breather filter(s).

Run a line from the valve cover port, and from the pcv valve ( you actually want to remove t5he pcv valve its self, and run the line from the black breather box that sits below the pcv valve) run those to the catch can.

If you can afford it, buy a baffled catch can, if not stuff it full of steel wool, as this acts like baffling.

This set up means nothing from the charge pipes/intake manifold is connected to the crankcase ventilation system, thus no boost creeping in and wreaking havoc on your internals.

For 270-300whp, no. You really aren't creating enough crankcase pressure to warrant one. Big catch cans didn't "catch on" until about 2005 for serious racers that were running large amounts of CFM and boost pressures to warrant one. In your case, I don't think its necessary at all for this power level and use.

personally, im running both a PCV and a breather..

When theres no boost 95% of the time, fresh air is vac'd in, then when im going into boost, the PCV closes and the blowby goes into the catch.

I DO need to replace the OEM barb on VC to a larger one for more flow.

But thats just me.
